Small adjustment, big impact
Britt installed the doors using what’s known as a pivot hinge. This means the door doesn’t turn on the usual place in the doorframe, but moves more like a rotating wall. This creates flexible openings. One turn and the space suddenly feels different. “I hope people will feel that there are others nearby, even if you can’t see them.”
In her work, she explores how subtle changes affect the way we experience space. Not big or drastic, but very small.
Designing from within
During the Associate degree Interior Designer, Britt learned to design from her own interests. “When you design from within, your choices are real.”
Throughout the course, her self-confidence grew along with the realisation that freedom lies in exploring boundaries. Some designs may not be realistic, but it’s often those “extreme” ideas that lead to something unique.
By experimenting and pushing limits, she discovered the power of simplicity. “With respect for what's already there, I make a small change and in doing so, I give the space a completely new feeling.”
Proud of the process
Britt’s work shows how powerful modest design can be. And the result is both personal and distinctly her own.
“I’m incredibly proud of what I’ve made. It shows who I am.”
